What is the
Buyer Protection Program?
Protection" icon below a merchant's name indicates that
purchases made through Yahoo! Shopping at that merchant's
site are protected from some types of fraud by the Yahoo!
Buyer Protection Program.
Store merchants and Yahoo! Shopping advertising partners are
eligible to participate in this program. These merchants
must earn and maintain a minimum 3-star average merchant
rating. Purchases made from merchants which display the
Buyer Protection icon at the time of purchase are covered by
the program regardless of the merchant's status at the time
a claim is filed. Important limitations apply.

The Yahoo! Buyer Protection
Program covers any item legitimately purchased through Yahoo! Shopping from a
covered merchant, as long as that item does not violate our terms of service.
This protection covers purchases of up to $1000.
All claims must be filed with cynoSure Financial, our claims administrator,
within 60 days of the purchase. There's a lifetime limit of two claims per user
on items purchased through Yahoo! Shopping. Yahoo!, in its sole discretion,
makes all final determinations regarding Buyer Protection Program claims.
What are the
conditions of the Yahoo! Buyer Protection Program?
The following are the conditions
of the Yahoo! Buyer Protection Program:
- The buyer has purchased the
item in good faith from the merchant and never received the item, or the
item received is materially different from the merchant's published
- The complaint has gone
through the Yahoo! Complaint Resolution Process.
- Items damaged during shipping
are not covered. Please contact your shipping carrier for information about
its reimbursement policy.
- The buyer must file the claim
within 60 days of the purchase. This means that the final claim must be
postmarked to our claims administrator by this date.
- The program does not cover
the payment if any part of the payment was sent by wire transfer or sent to
a post office box or sent to any international location.
- There's a limit of two claims
per user for Yahoo! Shopping items covered under the Buyer Protection
- Yahoo!, in its sole
discretion, makes all final determinations regarding Buyer Protection
Yahoo! continues to evaluate and implement enhancements in security
technology and practices, however we can only take steps to help reduce the
risks of unauthorized access. Each individual using the Internet can take steps
to help protect their information and further minimize the likelihood that a
security incident may occur.
- Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
Yahoo! uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption when transmitting certain
kinds of information, such as financial services information or payment
information. An icon resembling a padlock is displayed on the bottom of most
browsers window during SSL transactions that involve credit cards and other
forms of payment. Any time Yahoo! asks you for a credit card number on
Yahoo! for payment or for verification purposes, it will be SSL encrypted.
The information you provide will be stored securely on our servers. Once you
choose to store or enter your credit card number on Yahoo!, it will not be
displayed back to you in its entirety when you retrieve or edit it in the
future. Instead of the entire number, you will only see asterisks and either
the first four digits or the last four digits of your number.
